Assuming we're still a nation of laws, and DJT was indicted in accordance with those laws on Federal

charges it remains to be seen how he escapes accountability for his actions. Jack Smith has submitted a detailed brief, including evidence, showing why the prosecution believes that Presidential immunity does not apply. IMO, DJT is not "Home Free" just yet and there's a non-zero chance he could face trial and end up in prison...leaving JDV as President. (wonder if that was why he once thought Trump could be "useful"...)

Perhaps some of our legal professionals can share their thoughts.

Follow-up to Frank's response and adding we are a nation of laws, no "assumption," needed.

As a follow-up to Frank, one has to take into account that a charge is far from a conviction and your claim of evidence amounts to no more than allegations which simply have not been proven at this point in time, before an answer or Rule 12 motion filed. Obviously, you are disappointed but as you querried,, we are indeed a nation of laws and regardless of how strong you feel to the contrary, the president elect has not been convicted of anything.

Agree. You can’t trumpet the rule of law and then ditch it when it doesn’t help you. The charges

need to be dismissed. The voting public collectively made that decision and a sitting prez can’t be prosecuted under DOJ precedent.

By having the new AG or acting AG drop the charges and the indictments. Game over Ty, again

unfortunately in my view. The public knew what it elected and did it anyway.

New AG could reassess, as you say. Also, he could pardon himself.

The former is more likely unless they move to sentence him before inauguration.

Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.

No reassessment needed. Can’t bring charges against a sitting president under their policy at least.

They have to drop them. Again everyone knew or should have known this going in. I think both cases were slam dunks, but they can’t and shouldn’t be brought with him in office.

I am not a lawyer but it seems to me the evidence is strong that there is no crime.
