much talent ever. I remember he closed his career with the Yankees and came in to relieve as a pitcher and ended up making the hitters look foolish with nothing but fastballs. In those days I thought no matter who came in after him would blow the game for him as the Yankees were horrible then. However Dooley Womack came through that day with the fielders making some great plays for Dooley, so the Rock got the win. The fans went absolutely nuts and apparently the next day Rocky couldn't life his arm.
Seriously though he had to carry Cleveland in his hay day and everybody was afraid of his bat. Don't knock the Rock was a familiar refrain back then. So many good right fielders that era. Rock, Maris, Kaline, Clemente, Musial was near that time I believe, were a few I can think of.
Very nice guy though. I liked him when I met him.
