Just to amplify what Conor's link explains, JC brought in Paul Volcker to tackle Inflation...a wise
choice, which required the use of high interest rates to bring it down; not unlike what we recently experienced (tough medicine, but it works)...
And President Carter also had the wisdom to make sure that Judge Harold Greene took over the AT&T Breakup Case...thus ushering in the phenomenal explosion of wireless phone usage we enjoy today.
Oh, and the "Gas Lines" started in 1973...we were both there when it happened :-)
