own political future. Newsome is what he is.
of vegetation around L.A....or stop the Santa Ana winds from rising to hurricane force and keep Air Tankers from flying...or guarantee that no ignition source could rise up...and desolate wide swaths of that city whose fire fighting infrastructure isn't designed to deal with wildfires like this. Plus, Gavin and any future Governor, will have to deal with reduced water from the Colorado River, due to the effect of Climate Change on all states that border the river, which supplies ~60% of Southern California.
BTW...Note that Baron has no harsh words for Ron DeSantis not building dikes along Florida's coasts to deal with sea level increases and higher storm surges from more and more powerful hurricanes driven by Climate Change...nor does he have any solutions for insurers fleeing the state due to the high claims risks that are only projected to increase.
Note also, wrt RDS...he petitioned FEMA for assistance to 41 FLA counties...and got it...with no strings/conditions attached...from Joe Biden.
Chris Martz showed data that this is simply false.
...as for more and higher energy storms, check out this article...

It's pretty simple the data shows higher sea temperatures, which releases more water into the atmosphere initiating storms...sea levels are rising, which makes storm surges from those storms that much more damaging...especially for a state like Florida with so many people living in low lying areas. You have to have seen the mounting devastation from the recent hurricanes...it's no longer just wind velocity, but the broad and deep flooding that is now taking place there....and up the coast to the Carolinas, where you live.
Make better choices, Mark.

...attached is Joshua Lappen's bio...and here's an excerpt...

Josh Lappen is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Rothermere American Institute and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame's Keough School of Global Affairs, where he conducts interdisciplinary research on the relationships between energy systems, political institutions, and local landscapes. His research interests include climate and energy policy, environmental history, the history of science and technology, and American political development.

And here is his opinion on the Palisades Fire...
--------------------
These municipal water systems were structured for residential and commercial needs and everyday fires – not firefighting on many fronts without aerial support, says Josh Lappen, a climate researcher at University of Notre Dame who studies Los Angeles' infrastructure systems. " Trying to pretend that this system was built for this disaster is dishonest," he says.

shots on the first couple of days, you would have seen a blizzard of embers driven by hurricane force winds...there is no way on God's fading green earth that the Santa Ynez reservoir and fire hoses could have made any noticeable difference in the devastation. It takes Airborne Fire Retardant Tankers to fight a wildfire, and they were grounded by the extremely high winds...end of story.
Here's an excerpt from the article...
-----------------
A reservoir in the Palisades was empty while its cover was getting repaired. And the water systems used to fight the Palisades and Eaton fires couldn't maintain the continuous high water pressures needed, meaning water stopped flowing in some hydrants. Newsom has called for an investigation.
But water and climate experts say that even if the Palisades reservoir had been full and hydrants working perfectly, they wouldn't have allowed firefighters to change the course of large wildfires. Hurricane-force winds fueled the fires, and meant that in the first days planes and helicopters couldn't fly and drop water, experts say.

btw, I really appreciate Michael's support for Nuclear Power, when so many on the Left were spreading falsehoods about it...he definitely gets it on that topic.

...add "Political Stupidity" to DJT's CV....from the article...
--------------------
LOS ANGELES -- California Republicans are pushing back against suggestions by President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson and other Republicans that federal disaster aid for victims of wildfires that ravaged Southern California should come with strings attached, possibly jeopardizing the president's policy agenda in a deeply divided Congress at the outset of his second term.
With Trump planning to visit the fire-ravaged state this week, resistance from even a few House members to his efforts to put conditions on disaster aid could further complicate an already fraught relationship between reliably liberal California and the second Trump administration.
Several Republicans who narrowly won California House seats in November have expressed dismay that the state relief could be hitched to demands in exchange for helping the thousands of Californians in their districts still reeling from this month's disaster.
"Playing politics with people's livelihoods is unacceptable and a slap in the face to the Southern California wildfire victims and to our brave first responders," Republican Rep. Young Kim, whose closely divided district is anchored in fire-prone Orange County, said in a statement.

Don't remember JB putting conditions on Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas for FEMA assistance.....or any previous President playing politics with survivors of natural disasters.

People that had Trump signs in their yards?
why they were arresting elderly people praying near abortion clinics and claiming owning a rosary was a high risk terrorist characteristic.
evidence to support such bizarre claims...and when he does provide links...they often say the exact opposite of what he's claiming...
I've never seen such a paranoid and hateful person...other than Donald Trump...which likely explains Baron's affection for him. Not the best representative of a Notre Dame grad.

…..those people are violent and they look at the Trump adm as Nazis. Folk with their mentality already tried to kill him twice - I think second one was even from Cali.
Better off not going in at all and just withhold aid…..for the safety of our workers.
Whaddya think? How does that feel in reverse?
Lucky for you, we aren’t like you.

If they don't do those things, they must not need the help.
Both requirements help to assure that the same crisis does not happen again in the future.
It's also more help than the Biden WH gave to conservative hurricane victims in the Carolinas, and it's not like they will go and vote against the GOP in the next election (they do it anyways).
Help them because they cannot help themselves.
Turning green as I type due to winter thank god
