Down to Patagonia (Argentina and Chile) or Lapland (Norway and Sweden).

Any tips/experiences on either?

Well, first of all, "Lapland" doesn't mean what is sounds like, which was a big disappointment.

Patagonia in our Spring, their Autumn (I did the South Island of NZ at the same time, it was awesome).

i had the great pleasure of being a consultant on the 2024 lillehammer winter olympics committee in norway. the country, the history, the scenery, and, especially, the people are incredible. if you like to skate or ski, there aren't any better places. the thor heyerdahl papyrus ship is on display in oslo. you have to buy at least 2 norwegian sweaters - they are probably the best in the world. sweden, too, has a lot of very fascinating places and things. a lot to see and do in a magical area. highly recommended.
