At the risk of letting the air out of Baron's balloon, the U.S. tracked that Chinese balloon before
it crossed the lower 48 and shutdown communications that might be surveilled...then smartly shot it down over U.S. waters where we could recover all of the spy payload and analyze China's capability as well as intent. Also, the Biden admin. and our Military correctly assessed the lack of any physical threat to American citizens.

Yeah, tracked as it sent back photo and GPS coordinates of military and industrial installations.
The attached article notes that the previous administration concluded; that Xi was embarrassed (how sad) that the balloon photographed areas, that Biden tried working internationally to set up rules but failed and met with Xi but never broached the subject.
My conclusion: Biden is a globalist who wanted every country on equal terms so he worked for ridiculous international rules. His actions remind me of a mf'ing son-of-a-bitch who restricted the targets, restricted flights to the same time of day, restricted us to the same route packs and in the most egregious and traitorous action of all, passed the informatioon to the Swiss Embassy for a pass on to the North Vietnamese, the f'ing ennemy at the time, whom we now have regular naval visits, trade and vacation jaunts where people can visit the f'ing debris fields created in North Vietnam where Americans died. So if you don't mind, I'd rather not hear about letting an intelligence gathering balloon traveling across Alaska and then the continental U.S. not being a military threat to our country so that we can secretly obtain intelligence about its capabilities and since we don't know what information was sent back to China , I call bullshit!
That balloon was not China's only spy vehicle, as the attached "Space Force" article shows...
...and the Biden admin wisely waited for the balloon package to be over water where we could capture it, largely undamaged and get maximum insight into their technology, communications, etc...a virtual gift.
Your Vietnam experience would sour anyone, so you're justified in being jaundiced about what happened. Nonetheless, we do have some very dedicated and talented people on watch...and not all of them are White, Straight and Christian ;-)
