I know an active duty Naval Aviator who described the process they go
through in order get clearance to fly an F-18 fighter jet…this Transgender Commander therefore has the “Right Stuff” to serve.

You don't make it to "O-5" in Naval Aviation if you "couldn't hack it"...60 combat missions flying
an F-18 off a carrier...a test pilot...and a manager of other sailors and officers...with regular reviews, and promotions are proof that she indeed can hack it.
Under meritocracy, you would be correct, under DEI, hard to say.
