A perfect storm.
I've taken that regional jet into Reagan countless times.
It will be impossible to make that approach without trepidation going forward.
On the other hand... they say that lightening never strikes twice... right?
A perfect storm? Okay, a busy commercial airport along with a busy military flight path
along with a dipshit in office who is dismantling Air Safety measures (on day one) put in place to avoid such tragedies
and the use of only 1 air-traffic controller at busy airport where the seat of the most powerful gov't on
the planet has its home - Yeah, I'd say it was a perfect storm.
You'd think being the home of the most powerful gov't on the planet, there'd be more regulation and a tighter
control of air-traffic, not less.
But then, you like most republicans, the completely banal understanding is chalked up to - "a perfect storm".
It doesn't get dumber than that.

Actually, the ATC controller may be involved here, according to the video I posted of an interview
with a former Blackhawk pilot and instructor...he commented that the controller was assured by the Army Helo (PAT25) that they had the "CRJ" in sight, but it'a likely that the plane they were looking at was one a couple of miles further behind the CRJ. The former Blackhawk pilot said that had the controller informed the PAT25 crew that the CRJ was actually at their altitude and just 1/2 mile away, then that crew could have been able to realize a collision was imminent and taken action to avoid the CRJ.
Perhaps we'll see recommendations in the future that ensure more specificity by controllers during such difficult circumstances, and restrictions on Army Helos wearing night vision googles around such busy airports.
I can't believe I'm relying on Tyrone's posts... but they seem to provide the best perspective.

There are no details yet. Only speculation. NTSB is still in recovery mode.
Every licensed pilot in the country has be an expert guest on all these shows, including Fox. I have a drivers license but that doesn''t mean I know anything about driving an Indy car in the Indy 500. It's going to take time. I even know that and I've never flown.
The NTSB's eventual finding will be the final word...and all who are reviewing the current data,
like the pilots in the videos, know that. btw, their emphasis is on DATA...not idle speculation or politicization, like Trump.
