For those who support drastically reducing the federal workforce, would you be comfortable with DOGE making those cuts based upon an employee’s political affiliation?

Turns out that what he and his team found were the SSNs of everyone who has ever received SS. Since SS started about 90 years or so ago, and older Americans were allowed to apply, there are a bunch of numbers in the system associated with people who were born 150+ years ago. Amazingly, the problem arose because Elon's team of tech bros can't understand COBOL.

It depends on their role. IMO the ratio of civil servants to political appointees is skewed.
Those in policy or executive roles should serve at the pleasure of the President. Others should be protected for their political beliefs.
At least for the agencies I routinely deal with (DOL, EEOC, and USCIS) there are way too many civil servants that interfere with the policies of both Republican and Democratic administrations.
