Just terrible that Europe has to even think about defending itself.
Agree that Europe should do that. UK and France can do it themselves, after all.
Our promises to protect nations which went nuclear weapon free (e.g., Ukraine, Libya) have been shown to be totally worthless. Not sure why Europe would gamble on us, regardless of who is president (since it was Obama who reneged on those promises, not Trump).
Japan, South Korea, and especially Taiwan should probably assess their need as well. Amazing that Taiwan doesn't have some sort of nuclear weapons program by now.

Yep. Ukraine gave up their nukes in mid 90's with promises from US. Obama reneged.

Stop being a tool.
I’m talking about a cornerstone treaty that has kept the peace of Europe and the world for 80 years. We have had nothing like that with Ukraine. In fact, we have no treaty obligations with them, and they aren’t even allowed to join NATO at this point. If we did, why would Orange let Putin fight an undeclared war with them for all 4 years of his presidency? If it was Obama’s weakness in 2014 that let them grab Crimea and we had obligations to them, why did Orange let Putin continue to grab land in the east for his entire term if he is the strong leader you claim? Comparing NATO which is a binding mutual defense treaty to Ukraine which has none with us is simply silly and a poor argument.
The issue isn’t Europe assisting its own offense in addition to our “promise”. It’s the fact that Orange has made it clear that we won’t fight for Europe. It’s an open secret that his own advisors have said and that he has also said to the EU.. This just emboldens the dictator.
The important part of my post is that abandonment of Europe is bad and destabilizing. Only one man and group want to do that and it is bad.

Guardian article shows. His decision making involved Iran and helped lead to the subsequent and very effective JCPOA agreement.

...please read the attached Defense Department memo from the Obama administration...i.e. no need for them to develop their own nuclear programs...however with the advent of Putin's lapdog in the White House, they might want to reassess for the short term...long term, IMO DJT won't be a factor.
