A planned ceasefire for negotiations was planned upon the signing. Trump ordered Hegseth to cease hostilities (cuz you know, it was a planned ceasefire - and using military Intel to attack Russian troops is, you know.....hostile).
Zelenskyy then unexpectedly spit in Trump's face over the deal.
Not sure how Trump will decide to proceed going forward, but that is his call as the duly elected president. And the Defense Sec carried out his duties of following orders as he should.

A ceasefire means ceasing hostilities. It means showing goodwill to both sides to encourage the peace talks. And these efforts can be started again immediately if things break down. This story, if true, actually confirms that Zelenskyy surprised Trump with his dismissive behavior toward the peace effort.
