from the attached WaPo Opinion article...
-------------------
The strangest aspect of the past few weeks of American diplomacy — which culminated in the disaster at the White House on Friday — is that the president of the United States has seemed utterly unwilling to say plainly that he supports the victim of aggression against the aggressor who started the war. Or that he admires Ukrainian democracy more than Russian dictatorship. Instead, he and Vice President JD Vance spent Friday’s photo op at the White House publicly scolding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, telling him to say thank you (which he has repeatedly) and accusing him of being disrespectful. Zelensky’s fault was simply to point out that Ukraine had in fact signed a ceasefire deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2015 but that Putin had continually violated it. President Donald Trump used the occasion to remind all that he felt a special bond with Putin.
--------------------
Zelensky and his fellow Ukrainians have seen first hand that Vladimir Putin cannot be trusted...everyone knows this, including Trump, but the "Friday Ambush" eliminates all doubt as to who's calling the shots wrt U.S. foreign policy...it's the former KGB Officer. This is pure Treason for our President, and all who assist him, to violate this country's stance...and "Moral Compass"...of defending Democracy over Authoritarianism...and in this case, choosing Putin over Zelensky.

to preach morality.

Putin is a vicious Thug bent on enslaving Ukraine…his attack was an act of blatant aggression and Imperialism.
NATO’s military operations were all UN Sanctioned to bring peace and end wars already begun.
You’re a very poor propagandist.

If Trump can end the war and stop the dying, I would consider that to be a great moral accomplishment, regardless of whatever stupid things he says.
Trump's attack on President Zelensky is Putin...a complete sell-out by DJT...it's what he DID to Zelensky that shows his treachery...to the dismay of even Republican leaders (see link)...who know full well what that entails for Ukrainians in the future.
Fortunately, the EU has Ukraine's back, and IMO Putin will end up losing...which spells the end of Trump and 'Trumpism' as well.

A lot like those who insist January 6 was a tourist day not an insurrection attempt.
to all the funding they get from Russia (2017)?...or Konstantin Kilimnik getting Trump campaign internal polling data from campaign manager, Paul Manafort, to pass along to Russian operatives?...and now, DJT representing the only democracy to side with Putin?
Not so "Delusional" after all...is it.
IMO, the mask has been torn off...DJT is going down. There aren't enough gullible MAGAs to stop it.

What an asinine statement.
no more cold war, but not my president to do similar things?
You cheered Obama for 8 years and called him the best president in US history at this board. At same time I criticized his domestic and foreign policies throughout his presidency here. On foreign affairs I criticized his "Assad had to go" Syria war policy. I criticized his illegal libya war. I blamed him for the rise of the Isis because of his post-iraq war handling. I fundamentally disagree his internationalist worldview (later I learned it's globalist worldview)... But I never criticized his anti new cold war stance which is shared by Russia (and of course shared by me). I never criticized his reset with Russia. So, I have integrity and consistency in my political view. You don't, unless you honestly answer my challenge to you above.

And no US President has ever or would ever defend Putin’s aggression against Ukraine.
Except Donald Trump.
No other US President has ever or would ever pull a stunt like we saw Friday afternoon.
Except Donald Trump.
The outrage on this Board isn’t about differences of opinions about US foreign policy decisions amidst a complicated world. It’s about the basic premise that a US President is the face and voice of American principles and values, which includes standing up for our friends, particularly when invaded by authoritarian regimes.
President Trump violated our nation’s trust.
