is impossible.
Thus, as you indicate, the Euro compromise is for the EU to promise to foot more of the bill ("this time we really mean it!!!"), but the US would still be the main country footing the bill and the weapons in a war that would continue on with no chance of being won. That is exactly what Trump and America want to end.
Also, they enable Zelenskyy by capitulating to his refusal to work for peace by simply caving to try to continue payments in a different way.
You'd think that the EU would not have been such dicks this last weekend. Like the libs here on the board, they just couldn't miss the chance to heap on Trump....and now they see that Z isn't conceding for them either.
The US is also considering removing the extra 20k troops brought in to Europe at the time of invasion to take our presence back down to "normal levels" - not the best time for the coming leader of Germany Merz to absurdly claim that somehow Trump purposely meant to scuttle the talks with Zelenskyy at the mineral signing.
Pretty reckless on the part of the EU.
But as we can see, this is typical liberal entitlement behavior. It happens to the lowly and the powerful alike.
Well, they can figure it out amongst themselves. Eventually, they'll go back to Zelensky and say, "take the fucking deal, we don't want to pay, and the Americans aren't rolling over anymore".
This is also going to hurt their trade talks with the US who is asking for fair, equal tariffs.
Zelensky knows that when this is all over, he's going to get disappeared.
