If it helps to re-invigorate manufacturing, probably not. But, who is going to buy products produced by the US if their economy is based on US trade, and we aren't buying their stuff. They trade their goods for our dollars. When their goods are significantly de-valued, they won't get enough dollars to buy our goods.
I think Canada could be royally hosed. Mexico and China less so.
The question is if we have the stomach for short term pain to realize long term benefits.
Or do you feel we can produce everyhing we need right here at home.
I'm not sure that ever worked or why would the Euros have set out to discover other lands/peoples?
In today's world every product has international matrials/components... what will your vibrant middle class be producing and for whom?

am and India will be winners of the shift. The tariffs won’t be good for us until other countries blink. American manufacturing will take a generation to come back.
