The United States will no longer be the leader (and coordinator) of the free world. When our allies no longer trust us, our national security and intelligence gathering is substantially weakened.
And when China and other adversaries see a weakened United States, they will take advantage.
We are headed into dangerous waters. Republican Senate and House Intelligence members who know better, need to find some courage quickly.
Not a game, sports fans.

Germany is preparing to suspend their debt limits (novel concept...debt limits) to build up their military in ways unprecedented since WWII. Up until now, they have relied on the US to go into debt to protect them. Why? Because they could. They have been taking advantage of us.
France is also taking positive steps to be more of a partner with the rest of Europe on defense. Since you likely only read Democrat news sources, you may not know that France has always been quite independent. France did not want to be a full partner of NATO, and only fully integrated with NATO in 2009. France has always criticized the US for playing too much of a role in NATO...which is kind of funny now that Trump has called their bluff (at least in words, but not in actions). France is now taking all kinds of steps to prepare to fight Russia...and is trying to get other nations to do the same.
Honestly, I don't give a damn what Trump says anyone in Europe is doing. But, if your position is that Europe is not stepping up their military spending to thwart Russia, you are just wrong. The EU is having all kinds of emergency meetings to do just that.

Pretty clear it is the latter.
Yet, if I follow your craziness, your takeaway is that Europe is now hesitant to share intelligence with the United States because Trump is teaching Europe a lesson to step up and pay their fair share???
Here’s what I know Ned:
1) Putin is our enemy. Putin is bad. Putin is evil.
2) The United States has always been the world’s leader in making sure Putin types don’t harm the world, don’t harm us, and don’t fuck with our allies.
3) The United States calls the shots. We are the leader.
4) Europe expects us to be the leader, to include intelligence gathering and strategic decision making.
Trump has now reset the stage, placing Putin’s interests above Europe’s interests, and frankly, above our interests.
Not surprisingly, Europe is now reluctant to trust us.
Yet, you are obsessed with “tough love” and whether Europe pays their “fair share.”

A United Europe is perfectly capable of defending themselves
on their own.
If Putin can’t defeat Ukraine straight up then how in hell is he going to walk through Europe?
It’s time to negotiate a deal. Or kick the crutch.

Hard to imagine Russia thinking it could muster any kind of attack on Europe right now that wouldn't just embarrass the hell out of the Russian Army and cause someone to depose Putin.
Time for the US to focus on China, perhaps.
Trump's actions have motivated Europe to move from being a protectee of the United States to being a partner-opponent of Russia.
Sorry, I know Trump has said some crazy shit, but when push comes to shove, we are fighting with Europe against Russia. When that happens, it will be nice to be fighting with them, not fighting for them...while they stand on the side of the road while our tanks and APC's roll by. Before Trump, we would have been fighting to protect them. Now, perhaps we will be fighting with them. They are finally talking in earnest about spending their fair share of what is required to defend Europe. That hasn't happened since the wall came down.
It is early yet, though. Let's see if all this noise in Europe actually turns into anything. After all, Germany needs a 2/3 majority in the Bundestag supporting suspension of debt limits to build their military, and although they are talking about it, it remains to be seen if Germany will move from being a protectee to being a co-protector.
Otherwise, last Friday’s ambush wouldn’t have occurred. Nor would cutting off intelligence to Ukraine.
If Trump wants to be Mr Tough Guy, then go bully Russia, not Ukraine, not Europe.

And calling the rape victim “a whore” who asked for it? And extorting the rape victim to pay for the rapes to stop?
That’s your America?
Do you crave more Ukranian blood as well?
Broker a peace and stop the killing. America should not pay the price for Putin's atrocities.
Respect the American Military. They are not your personal avengers.
Military Lives Matter.

Canada, you don't have a card.
Even MI6 of UK, it's annual budget is about 2.8-2.9 B.way way less than US' counterpart.
What aboutb Australia and New Zealand? They are smaller even than Canada.
