Both sides are escalating the fight. It's a common tactic used before entering peace talks.
Just take a look at Vietnam War, Korea War... Trump certainly knows it.
Russia has advantage in firepower which may make the escalation looked one sided. Actually it's not. Both sides equally intensified their fights.
He's managing a dispute between two petulant children in the form of Putin and Zelensky,
at least one of whom is trying to prolong things for personal reasons. He bitch slapped Zelensky back into line, and now he's doing the same with Putin.
He threatened "large-scale sanctions" - as if we don't already have large-scale sanctions on Russia
Putin sent hundreds of missiles and drones into Ukraine yesterday, mostly at civilian targets.
He targets civilians.
And he will keep doing it as long as he thinks he can get a better deal from Ukraine - because we are cutting off aid.
Cutting aid to Ukraine will prolong the war.
Maybe we can ask Europe to stop sending more money to Russia than Ukraine.

The perennial lack of engagement on the inconvenient fact above is interesting.
Three years into this war, Europe is STILL sending more cash to Russia (for energy) than aid to Ukraine. The majority of their aid to Ukraine is in the form of LOANS. Germany didn't send a single tank to Ukraine until the war was already 13 months old. Their first shipment of aid was in the form of spare helmets. But WE'RE the bad guys.

It's not about Ukraine, Europe or Russia. It's about Trump.
They will oppose anything he does or says. He pointed it out in the speech and they affirmed it through their callous, infantile behavior. They even clapped at the idea that the Ukraine war would go on 5 more years.
