Wondering what the full carbon footprint will be for the COP30 summit.
Nobody is gullible enough to think "we" actually care about climate change, right?

It's the SUN, baby. Man has so little to do with it. Ask the First Ice Age.
But govt. can funnel money to friends to make things "green"
But if we're having a summit on climate change, from which no solutions will happen, you're good with it.
"Perfect is the enemy of good is an aphorism that means insistence on perfection often prevents implementation of good improvements. Achieving absolute perfection may be impossible; one should not let the struggle for perfection stand in the way of appreciating or executing on something that is imperfect but still of value."
As we proceed through this Transition, we'll still be flying Fossil Fuel Burning Jet Planes, and cutting down trees for houses and roads, as we bring on Heat and Power Sources like Nuclear and Renewables...that will also in turn power the creation of Hydrogen products that don't produce CO2...take some time to look toward the future your kids and grandkids will be living in.

You're arguing that we can't make an omelet without cracking a few eggs, I'm asking where's the omelet.

the link for how much CO2 a Fossil Fuel Plant puts into the atmosphere...
Not sure you could pass a kindergarten quiz on which thing is bigger than another ;-)
And people wonder why we have Trump in office...

Or, they could have chosen to have it virtually which would have saved on emissions.

unfortunately, they can't let go of their "Cash Cows"...i.e. Oil & Gas...so the keep on marching toward the awaiting cliff....
Just as real is the 'Finiteness' of FF availability...per BP's estimate, there are ~47 yrs of Proven Oil Reserves remaining at current consumption rates. Even if you can't understand and comprehend Climate Change, the urgency of transitioning to Nuclear and Renewables only intensifies with every passing year...Get on board with the Transition..if only for your kids and grandkids.
Whichever Reality motivates you, there's only one path...the one that doesn't use FFs for Heat and Power.
Which combined with all the emissions that are going to happen to have this conference, shows that it's all a corrupt boondoggle. I am not saying that climate change isn't real or that we shouldn't do anything about it, I am saying that these folks aren't going to fix it.
You can't answer the question: what is the progress towards the goal? Or more likely you know the answer, but you support this anyway.
Renewables for Heat and Power...
This is an incredibly complex transition that involves every nation on the planet...that's why people need to come together and keep working on ways to make the needed changes without crashing economies...better than no one talking to others.
Do yourself and everyone in the U.S. a favor by voicing your support for measures to speed our own transition with your Representative and Senators...in concert with other nations, since we import and export Oil and Gas. I'm hoping we can utilize Operations Research, AI, Quantum Computing, and inputs from all involved parties to help Optimize the work to be done....something like a "Manhattan Project" for this much needed transition.
btw, "Drill, Baby, Drill" isn't the answer...and you flatter me by thinking I would have any idea as to how close the world is to achieving the goal of zero man-made CO2 additions to our atmosphere ;-)
Humans that go to climate conferences are terrible at mitigation and innovation but good at monetizing a crisis. Maybe you'll see Stacy Abrams there.
current FF Power Plants and their enormous CO2 emissions.

Do you really think the climate hasn't changed?
Why has the Earth been warming recently?...and by "recently," I mean the last 18,000 years, since well before man started doing anything...before there were 10 million humans on earth...some estimate far fewer, possibly 1 million or less.
The oceans have been rising all that time. England & Ireland were "recently" part of mainland Europe, and Alaska was a part of Asia (the "land bridge" was a thousand miles wide. Again, all of that before an industry by man.
This is well settled historical science.
The sun didn't suddenly start up, but the tilt and changing orbit might have been a factor in how the sun's energy affected Earth. Ice cores show that the earth's climate has never been in a steady state.
...Ice Ages and Thaws took place within the CO2 atmospheric concentrations of 180 - 300 ppm...within the last ~150 yrs we're now over 425 ppm...and rising rapidly...plus, it takes generations for the CO2 to come out of the atmosphere acidifying oceans...etc, etc.

cause for Global Warming/Climate Change. Unfortunately, that phenomenon can't account for the very recent change in atmospheric CO2 content (see my previous response to you) combined with increased global tropospheric temperatures (see Dr. Roy Spencer's global satellite temperature data).
for 800,000 years...through many Milankovitch Cycles and Ice Ages, we've never had CO2 concentration levels above 300 ppm...now, in the relatively infinitesimally short time period of 150 yrs, we're at 425 ppm...and rising sharply. This has produced "Green House Warming" which no physicist denies.
Now let's see your response...with 'Specificity'...or not.
Once again, even Exxon's disclosed internal documentation admits that global warming is being caused by the burning of Fossil Fuels for Heat and Power. This rapid a change in human living and food producing conditions, if left unchecked this would be devastating for our children, grandchildren and all those to follow...they won't be able to adjust in time. It is our duty to keep that from happening, even though harm is being and will be done.
Given that having sufficient and reliable energy is the basis for modern living, we can't walk away from this challenge...as difficult as it is...don't be a quitter, Ned.
Oh, and one more thing...those Fossil Fuel resources are not "Infinite"...BP projects there are only ~47 years of Global Proven Oil Reserves remaining at current consumption rates...just saying, in case you need mor 'justification' for taking ACTION to shift away from FFs for Heat and Power. (and saving them for ALL the myriad uses we depend on).

can find the roadway when looking at all of Brazil. The world is in a Transition from Fossil Fuels for Heat and Power, to Nuclear Power and Renewable Energy Sources. You haven't even accepted Climate Change and you worry about an 8 mile roadway in the forest...basically, you have no sense of proportion...or understanding of physics.
