Democrats can’t combat chaos with normalcy. Shut it down. Force Republicans to table.

Shutting down government usually a good thing, so I'm disappointed in the Dems. Oh well.

Granted, all employees get back pay every time, so the shutdown is just extended vacation for them.

To the contrary Ned. You are confusing the House Bill w/ Debt ceilings -- paying our past bills.

I was critical of Republicans playing games and threatening to shut down the government for failing to honor our past debts -- monies authorized by duly elected officials and passed into law.

Our honor requires us to pay those debts regardless of one's position on the federal deficit.

This bill is not about raising the debt ceiling. It is about giving Trump a 6 months runway to continue his unlawful agenda with DOGE, without a budget. In order to outflank the statutory requirement that "an emergency" be approved by Congress within 15 days of the trumped up "emergency," this Bill defines 6 months = "one day."

If they shut it down, Trump will expand his power.

He would have exploited the chaos.

That’s why Schumer had to act.

Interesting, though, that they'll vote for the "right wing extremists wish list" as one Dem called the continuing resolution.

I also imagine Schumer wanted to avoid being scapegoated by Trump.

That is, Schumer doesn’t want to give Trump a narrative for Trump to blame for a recession.

I still think it’s time for Chuck Schumer to move on.
