The author doesn't agree with Trump almost on everything. In this piece he is not as sharp and deep as Jeffrey Sachs and lacks personal experiences that Sachs has on the same subject. But still it's a wonderful article. The author gave a detailed account on that period of history and touched the root of outbreak of this war.

Apparently, Alan J. Kuperman never read about or viewed the corruption by Viktor Yanukovych, which
incensed the Ukrainian people. For that egregious error, one can only conclude that Kuperman is another Putin tool.
btw, Kuperman is a long term 'Anti-Nuke'...for the U.S. and Western Europe...but says not a disparaging word about Russian, or Chinese efforts in that field.
