Jesus...the greatest lobbyist of all time. Maybe he should have called for private charity...
...but he just constantly called upon the Roman Empire to feed the poor. That's why he took human form...to lobby governments to address the problem of the poor. Makes it easy for us, though. All we have to do is vote, and not worry about love and charity.
Not a binary choice. My SIL use to run one of the local food banks. They get their provisions from a
variety of sources, including private from the community and from the govt. Sooo, you can both give of your time and resources as well as advocate for govt assistance. Not hard.
What Trump is doing is the polar opposite of Catholic Social Teaching...there is no excuse for what
is going on...and certainly not what Sec'y Rollin's has been conjuring up...from the article...

She posed for photos with DOGE staffers and wrongly claimed that USDA had cut a $600,000 grant to a Louisiana school to study “menstrual cycles in transgender men.” The grant actually was for researching the health risks of using synthetic materials in menstrual products.
Asked last week about ending programs for locally sourced food, Rollins told Fox News: “If we are making mistakes, we will own those mistakes and we will reconfigure. But right now, from what we are viewing, that program was nonessential, that it was a new program, and that it was an effort by the left to continue spending taxpayer dollars that were not necessary.”

This is downright meanness...we've gotten word of food shipments being cut in half at the food bank
my wife and I volunteer at. Typically, our location will see between 60 and 100 families in a shift. Absolutely no justification for the richest nation on earth to be doing this...NONE.
Maybe you should donate to pick up the slack.

We've known for a long time that's what we'd get from a Sociopathic Malignant Narcissist...but
witnessing Elon Musk's similar behavior recently has been a revelation...and not lost on a significant number of Americans...so much so, that a few are taking it out on him with violence...not at all the right way to voice disapproval, but strong evidence of that disgust, nonetheless...and will very likely be demonstrated in voting booths as well when the time comes.
