Nancy Pelosi thinks they are a good idea.
She gave a big long speech about how they are good. If she changed her mind, then I guess being anti-Trump is more important than protecting American jobs. Me?...I will put American jobs and American industry before politics, but I know that many here put politics before American jobs and industry. But, honestly, I don't know if they will work. We will all find out together. I will say that I have seen companies pull back jobs to the US immediately last time Trump did a fraction of what he is doing now. Not sure if we waited too long to do this, though. Again, we shall see.

I was looking an intelligent answer. It seems like a fair question.
If you google it you get:
Raising revenue.
Protecting domestic industries.
Exerting political leverage
Retaliating against unfair trade practices
I personally oppose them because I love the synergism of global trade and feel if everyone does it the world becomes ossified.
My hope is to see them reduced everywhere.
