The following countries are willing to negotiate with U.S. & won't take countermeasure/retaliation

Many countries remain silent sofar. I expect more countries like Vietnam... will negotiate with US. Yes, some countries like China will fight to the end. But trade war hurt surplus countries more. In the end a fairer global trade system (from US perspective) will emerge and American working class will be revived.

enrage the deranged. Essentially, their argument is that all other nations should be able to slap exorbitant tariffs on U.S. goods, but not vice versa. Sure thing.

I can't repeat this enough: the wealth and economic superpower status of the United States was fueled by tariffs, not "free trade." The idea of "free trade" began five minutes ago in the scope of human history. I think you would agree that, unsurprisingly, we saw the hollowing out of American manufacturing as "free trade" became systemic over the past 70 years. I suspect that Hammond, Gary, Michigan City, South Bend, Toledo, Cleveland, et al agree. Funny, how Democrats used to understand this. But, ya know, Trump...

He has me on ignore. But he is dead wrong about what made the American economy grow.

He inherited the most envied economy on the planet.

So thanks Eli for the reassurance that you and Trump are smarter than all the economists and experts.

He is going to huff and puff. But since this is based on 100% misunderstanding of economics, and since it has no strategic logic, he is going to declare victory soon.

And dipshits like you will think it’s an actual victory.

Tariffs - best case scenario! - would not make any substantial economic benefits for years. Domestic manufacturing cannot be ramped up in the short term somehow.

What we are witnessing is economic and political malpractice. Even shit-for-brains is going to figure that out soon enough.

So, no worries then? Seems like a lot of angst for no good reason.

It takes about 2 years to build a manufacturing plant, unless you are Elon Musk.

So, unless we have the intestinal fortitude to win the trade war, which would result in free trade, yes it will be a losing venture. I hope we win, what say you?
