The quote of the day: If you don't have steel, you don't have a country.

by Donald Trump.

As we're close to 100 days of Trump presidency, Trump's strategy is becoming clear. 3 goals of reshoring manufacturing:

1. Steel/aluminum which is foundation of industries and military industries.

2. Semiconductor which is the backbone of modern technology.

3. Auto and auto parts which is a significant driver of job creation.

I have no doubt these goals will be achieved.

For every company that produces steel, there are 50+ who use it.

Manufacturing industries.

So when we raise the price of steel, we hurt 50 times more industries than we help.

Good plan.

And if steel, semiconductors and autos can be produced much cheaper elsewhere?

We end up producing crap that we can't sell to anyone else.

Isolationism in the modern world dooms a country to stagnation.

Let me put it bluntly: Cheap labor became the drug of American economies. It killed innovation.

It's easy to make things cheaper through cheap labor than than through innovation. It's a drug that so many Americans are addicted to. They don't think supply chains disrupting issues. They don't think geopolitical risk. They don't give a damn to working class.

We definitely should not be relying on our biggest adversary, China, for essential goods.
