Trump bans illegal Gain of Function research funding in other countries - closes Fauci Loophole
GOF was banned in the US (under Barack Obama) by the NSABB (National Science Advisory Board), the NRC (National Research Council), and the IOM (Institute of Medicine) whom the government relies upon to make such decisions on safety in viral research. They felt it was unethical as it was far too risky and dangerous
Fauci didn't like the decision, and as a liberal, he felt the rules didn't apply to him. So, he took NIAID funds starting shortly thereafter, and he funded the same dangerous research at the Wuhan Lab in China....where the COVID virus later escaped to cause a world disaster.
Nobody at the previous mentioned US institutions ever thought to consider that someone among them would be so foolish and self-centered as to take the dangerous practice abroad with our govt funding. But Anthony Fauci felt that he knew better than everyone else. He also lied about doing it to congress.
Now, the legal loophole has been tightened to reign in any future Fauci's.

Here is one of the grants (on coronavirus) in 2014 that Fauci lied about to congress.
Fauci didn't like how the winds were blowing in the US, so he sent money to help start up the GOF research in China.
