Trying to find people who would support our takeover
The English language does not have adequate words to capture just how fucking stupid this is.

Trump thinks we need Greenland for strategic military purposes. You can second guess him if you want.

Advance warning; placement of offensive and defensive missiles, opening sea lanes...just some things I remember from the WSJ article, which seemed pretty even handed in its analysis.
And, its importance only goes up if you are correct about global warming.
Question for you: If the people of Greenland decided to joint the United States, would you oppose that?
Personally, I don't think it is a failure if Greenland stays as is, but I do think it has the potential to become a good thing for the United States if it becomes a part of the US. Call it Trump's Folly if you want; the same comments were made about Alaska back in the day.
Maybe there are one or two. Our intel services have been ordered to find them.
So there is no point in entertaining your question.

During the Cold War we had pretty substantial assets based there. Mostly Air Force.
All we would have to do to put them back is ask. The Danes would surely say yes. They also would give us mineral rights.
This whole thing is asinine.
