Well, they have to submit a national background check which checks immigration status.
The government will supposedly reject the application on the basis that the person is an illegal alien. (Although an Obama appointee recently allowed an illegal alien to buyi a gun, so go figure.)
So, theoretically, that reports to the Feds that we have an illegal alien buying a gun. Not sure if the ATF ever reports that to ICE, though. Probably depend on who is president.
Not sure about more specific reporting requirements by states. Seems like a good idea though, one that even Q could support. Gun shops usually try to keep good relations with local cops & sheriff's, so it might depend on the local authorities whether any additional reporting occurs.
I ask because the illegal alien terrorist in sanctuary Boulder tried to buy a gun but
got turned down, so he went to homemade Molotov cocktails to attack Jewish people.
I wondered if the sanctuary laws affected reporting of this obvious red flag event.
Gun shops don't necessarily know why it is rejected.
Now, if he tried to lie to them, and they caught him in the lie, the probably should have reported him. Even if not required by law. But, why bother reporting if you are in a sanctuary area...nothing will be done about it. So, your assumption is more than reasonable, it is likely.
