If sandal wearing Houthi rebels can significantly challenged the US Navy in red sea through a combination of asymmetric warfare tactics, it is much more easily for Iran to block the strait. It's no brainer.
The issue is blocking strait of Hormuz doesn't hurt U.S. and Israel directly, it hurts Japan, South Korea, China and many other countries which will impact U.S. eventually. It will hurt maga agendas.

I disagree with this assumption. The US has the most global military in the history of mankind. We can deploy a fighting force anywhere in the world within 18 hrs. A fight only involving air assets is even quicker. We have multiple air bases at our disposal in the region. While I agree that Iran is stronger than the Houthis, Israel decimated Iran’s ability to fly freely and the Iranian rocket attacks have dwindled from hundreds to maybe 40 a day from what I’ve read.
Also, the Houthis military capability is much more elaborate than claiming they’re just “sandal wearing fighters.” While the victory over them wasn’t decisive, they did agree to a cease fire because they knew fighting us was futile.
Houthi's were nothing once our Navy was given orders to act.

Personally, I'm glad I'm not making these decisions. But, it just seems like the probability of better outcomes has now increased slightly to me.
