This is not a comment to be pro illegal immigrant and storm our borders, but the adverse reply was that immigrants awaiting temp/perm residency overburden our medical services. In the year 2015 - 2017, US citizens totaled over $42M in uncompensated costs. Who pays that costs, you and me who carry insurance.
On reversal, while we also pay for undocumented immigrants medical care they contribute a F ton to our economy:
Taxes: In 2022, undocumented immigrants paid $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes. This included $59.4 billion to the federal government and $37.3 billion to states and localities.
The main takeaway is, this country needs some sorta path to citizenship. Undocumented immigrants don't just take resources, but give back. There just needs to be a better process.

What kind of taxes did they pay? And to get these #'s, how many illegals were being assumed?

Sales tax isn't really a fair trade off. These illegals were NOT PAYING personal income taxes on top of the sales tax that everybody pays. So actually, they are a drain in that regard as well as to their massive healthcare costs.
This is the kind of stupid logic that falls apart with even the quickest of looks by someone with the ability to critically think for themselves.

I can tell you with full certitude that the majority of illegal immigrants do NOT pay taxes. They want to stay below the radar. And, of course, most will not pay what they can get away with not paying.
Your number about how much they pay is unquestionably inflated as well - to fit the political goal of the organizations putting this out. The institute from which this liberal MSM fact check site gets its info is the left wing think tank ITEP - even wiki admits that they are left wing.
They are also associated with the liberal lobby organization Citizens for Tax Justice as well. Garbage in, garbage out.
