If only we could connect the dots between the nadir of scholarship in the social sciences and humanities to these practices.

Actually, academia took the lead on this from the outset.
I recall a prof in the 90s telling his students that he talked his white male students out of pursuing a career in academia because they were the wrong gender and the wrong color. Biden's handlers emerged from this world.
They are racist to the core.
