Here's an AI summary of Juneau, Alaska's evolving climate...
------------------
AI Overview

Heat advisory and demand for air conditioners in Juneau, Alaska

Juneau, Alaska, experienced its first-ever heat advisory in mid-June 2025, with central Alaska reaching temperatures of 86 degrees Fahrenheit. While Alaska summers can be warm, this heat advisory, the first issued as an official alert by the National Weather Service, suggests an increasing concern about the frequency and intensity of heat events in the state.

This heat advisory is particularly notable because only 2% of Alaskan homes have air conditioning, according to CNET. While the search results mention an anticipated increase in air conditioner sales in late July and September, with inventory currently available, they do not specifically confirm a "run" or shortage of air conditioners in Juneau in response to the heat advisory. However, it is possible that demand for air conditioners would have surged in Juneau during this heat advisory, given the low prevalence of air conditioning in the region.

It is important to note that the low adoption of air conditioning in Alaska reflects the historical climate where extreme heat was less common. However, as the climate changes and warmer temperatures become more frequent, it's likely that the demand for cooling systems, including air conditioners, will increase in Juneau and other parts of Alaska.
Additional details about heating and cooling in Juneau

Juneau's climate is influenced by the North Pacific Ocean, resulting in a temperate rainforest environment with mild temperatures and frequent precipitation.
Heat pumps are an increasingly popular heating and cooling option in Juneau, with programs like Thermalize Juneau helping residents adopt this energy-efficient technology.
Heat pumps offer both heating and cooling capabilities, making them a versatile choice for Juneau's climate.

Some Lennox air conditioning systems available in Alaska are solar-ready, offering potential energy savings and environmental benefits.

Why do you think the earth has been getting warmer since the last ice age about 18,000yrs ago?

I know you keep misrepresenting the "sun turning on" thing (when you should probably be talking about the cyclicality of world temperatures due to orbital and tilt/axis wobble variations, although I suppose solar output variations could play a factor), but why do you think the earth started warming back when there were mere hundreds of thousands of hunter-gatherer humans worldwide?

Obviously there are natural causes to global warming. Humans could not have done that.

The "land bridge" between Alaska and Siberia was over a thousand miles wide, such that the continents were fully one, and to call it a "bridge" is kind of silly. But the oceans started rising back then...when the mile of ice over Chicago began to melt. England and Ireland used to be a part of mainland Europe...all before any appreciable presence of human campfires could have caused any changes in sea level.

So, we know there are natural causes to 99% of the global warming that has occurred in the past 18,000 years.

And, we know that the earth was this warm before, and then got gold, and then got warm, and then got cold.... I don't know if the sun is responsible for it all, but you seem to like that explanation. Personally, I think the revolutional and rotational variations of the earth over long periods of time make more sense, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Liberalism Rule #16: The Expert Threshold.

BaronVonZemo's Rules of Liberalism:

Liberalism Rule #1 - accuse others of that which you are/do.
Liberalism Rule #2 - the rules apply to thee and not me
Liberalism Rule #3 - We know what is best, thus the ends justify the means.
Liberalism Rule #4 - We believe ourselves to be smarter thus, we cannot admit that we are wrong.
i) Admitting mistakes undermines the premise of being smarter, ergo self correction is not possible.
Liberalism Rule #5 - What didn’t work last time, will work next time (see 4 i.)
Liberalism Rule #6 - When we lose, change the rules.
i) Whenever convenient, change the definition to suit our goal.
Liberalism Rule #7 - Appeasement (using other people's money - usually taxpayers) is the best deterrent to conflict.
Liberalism Rule #8 - Totally Differentism - when we do something that we don’t like others doing, it is always “totally different”.
Liberalism Rule #9 - Equity through inequity (any difference must be equalized by pulling down the
unaffected party. Vengeance is preferable).
Liberalism Rule #10 - We support our representative speaking regardless of the truth (in contrast to
conservatives who support the truth regardless of the representative speaking it).
Liberalism Rule #11 - We vote on personality over policy.
Liberalism Rule #12 - Genetics are selective. We believe that sexuality and guilt are genetic, but gender is not. Scientific proof is not required.
Liberalism Rule #13 - Do SOMETHING! When a crisis happens, do SOMETHING! It doesn't have to have to work, but it must: a) make us feel better which is more important than actually solving the crisis, and b) advance the liberal agenda.
Liberalism Rule #14 - "You’ll have to show us a lot more than rock solid, irrefutable evidence”.
Liberalism Rule #15 - There are no universal truths. The truth changes to fit our needs.
Liberalism Rule #16 - The Expert Threshold. If a false narrative has enough “experts” backing it, it becomes truth regardless of evidence to the contrary. “Experts” are defined as those who support the narrative, and they can be conjured if necessary (because of Liberalism Rule #3).
Liberalism Rule #17 - Charity ends at home. It is accomplished through the government with other people’s money.
Liberalism Rule #18 - When failure or bad behavior is completely undeniable, distance yourself from complicity to salve your guilty conscience.
Liberalism Rule #19 - Guns don’t kill people, liberals with guns kill people. Violence comes from the Left.
Liberalism Rule #20 - Only guilty life is precious. Innocence makes us uncomfortable and thus must be eliminated.
Liberalism Rule #21 - "I'm a moderate". We are not liberal, we are "moderates" politically - despite supporting every liberal tenant. This is because we consider ourselves to be the fairest and also because we care too deeply about what others think of us to just admit what we really are (See Rule #22).
Liberalism Rule #22 - “We care too deeply about what others think of us.” (This is why we feel the constant need to virtue signal and try to buy foreign approval with handouts).
Liberalism Rule #23 - Make it about race! "Whenever we are losing an argument, make it about race".
New Rule #24 - “Both sides do it.” Guilt from our bad behavior is best tolerated when diluted to all, and no one can point a finger.

Human activity has an effect, like the earth getting greener. I prefer to have more plants and higher yields than another ice age.

within an environment that has had a steady CO2 atmospheric concentration of between 180 and 300 ppm (for the last 800,000 yrs)...Ice Ages...and Warm Periods...yet in just ~150 years that concentration has risen to 428 ppm, and is accelerating rapidly. Think of all the cities near coast lines, and factor in what would happen if our polar ice caps and glaciers melted (fyi...oceans would rise 230 ft.). While that's not too likely anytime soon, just think what a 10 ft. rise would do to those enclaves...and all the areas further inland. Think that might be problematic for future generations of human beings?...and we're not even talking about the impact of temperature increases on established farming regions...or fishing regions...which are already being impacted...and the increase in frequency and severity of hurricanes and drenching storms such as in Texas and the Carolinas.

...and thus far, Trump has done the same. With no hiccups, the first GEN-IV reactors should be producing power from Demo Plants between 2028 and 2030...then, hopefully, siting approvals and grid planning will accelerate so that we have a Grid that is reliable, available and robust enough to minimize the need for gas fired power plants...i.e. much less CO2 from power plants...or from vehicles on our highways...Jets will continue to need AVGas for quite awhile.

The retreat of the glaciers during the non-human induced recent warming period after the last ice age was the single greatest thing to happen to humanity.

inland farming areas based on a fairly predictable environment/climate...all that is changing...and accelerating due to global warming, which in turn is due to humans burning fossil fuels which increase greenhouse gas emissions, primarily CO2. This is a HUGE deal for generations to come...not just for comfort reasons...Safety and Economic Stability are at risk...and it's not too hard to imagine the impact that could have on political stability as well.

We all share this planet..it's in our self-interest to work together and limit the damage being done that will definitely affect ALL of us. This is no HOAX...it's Reality...not one we wished for, but one we can do something about...just stop denying and join in the effort.

ascribe them to 100,000 year Milankovitch cycles...but they all came and went within atmospheric CO2 concentration levels of 180 - 300 ppm (higher CO2 <==> higher temps)...but in only the last 150 or so years our current CO2 concentration has risen to 428 ppm...and it's accelerating higher, plus, it doesn't come out very quickly...at all.

You can't flip a switch and move whole cities/populations to higher ground over night...there are huge infrastructure, economic and political implications as you should be able to discern...so it pays for us to Plan Ahead and a) reduce the magnitude and speed of change, while b) transitioning to newer sources of energy. It's a big job, but doable...especially if EVERYONE Pulls Together...(I'm looking at you, Ned).

...water vapor to be released from them causing more and more severe storms along with coastal and inland flooding. Look at the data I've been providing you...you can't help but see the virtually instantaneous increases in CO2 and therefore temperatures. This is NOT Mother Nature at work...this added heat is due to human burning of fossil fuels...we can use other sources (Nuclear and Renewables) for heat and power...while saving the very finite FFs for better uses than incineration...don't you think. I mean why BURN Oil and Gas when you don't have to?...Save them for all the myriad uses we see every day...it's insanity not to.

For 60 years, first the coming ice age, then global warming, now the ambiguous climate change. All of the doomsday predictions have been wrong. And the premise that climate would he static and ideal if not for humans is silly.

Rich libs keep flying private and buying ocean front property, but you can't have a gas stove. And whatever bad event happens, it's caused by climate change and your fault.

our Climate is Changing due to Humans releasing CO2 from the burning of Fossil Fuels...and so do over 190 countries around this globe of ours, . Go easy on the hubris, Ned.

If that doesn't get your attention, consider that the U.S. has less than 10 years of Proven Oil Reserves remaining at current consumption rates...and even the O&G Industry considers Fracking to have peaked here. Bottom Line, our national security demands that we preserve as much as possible what Oil & Gas we have for the myriads of uses that have no replacement alternative, while switching our sources of Heat and Power to Nuclear and Renewables.
