It's a pox on our gov't. You celebrating DeSantis and his and republicans moves toward disenfranchising legal voters
is gross and truly un-American. That both parties do this is not an affirmation of something good - it just leads to more
distrust and hatred. But for you, you just can't help yourself from seeing this impact on governance as a good thing.
The horror show was your own. This was a correction.
Now, at this point, lets stop all gerrymandering int he state, and I'll go along with it.
This is not a partisan issue.
Congressional districts should not be drawn by the parties. It is bad for the republic.
hassee which was done to "preserve minority voting strength".
Now that this blatant attemp at swinging the state has been defeated, I'd be all for simply fixing jurisdictions as they are now on the books.
(no message)
when districts were originally implemented, the populace was not nearly as mobile as it is today, so levelling representation was much easier (and fairer).
now, the populace is very fluid, very heterogenous, making district design a nightmare.
add in political parochialism and you have a dumpster fire.
not sure what the answer is. maybe virtual districts based on ai-assigned demographics vs. topographical boundaries.
needs to be fixed somehow, though.
