The MAGA base is premised upon the fallacy that they are victims of a conspiracy.
The conspirators/perpetrators are of course unidentified, but fabricated as “The Deep State” — a shadow collection of elitist cultural intellectuals — all of whom are Democrats— all of whom were on Epstein’s list — and the reason why they whacked Epstein.
MAGA believes these conspirators are the reason why MAGA members’ lives have not been as fulfilling as they envisioned. This iron clad inferiority complex is what fuels MAGA, and why so many conspiracy theories abound within MAGA. The Deep State is the enemy.
Trump tapped into his base’s vulnerability to swallow anything— Obama was born in Kenya; the 2020 election was rigged; Fauci is to blame for COVID; vaccinations are the Devil’s work; the immigrants are coming for you, DEI is designed to harm you; etc etc etc
At some point, people learn they have been played, especially when they start to feel the pain.
