This golf talk got me thinking of 1 of my fav US Open shots ever-Vijhay Singh #17 Whistling Straits

2010 US Open Playoffs between Singh, Chris DiMarco, and Justin Leonard.

The hole was a 236 yd par 3 postage stamp surrounded by Lake Michigan - and the wind can change suddenly (even in ball flight) changing the club needed drastically.

Singh put it on the dance floor to within 6 ft of the flag using a magnificent 3 iron.

Does anyone else remember? It was special to me because I play have experienced those holes and know what it takes (and what I can't do). He was hitting into the wind with a 3 iron and stuck it. It would be the equivalent of hitting a 300 yd 3 iron on the spot.

The northern MI courses (and in this case northern WI course) are my favorite anywhere (yes, I am biased). The only flaw in these courses is their shorter season and their lack of big money, big city backing to get put on the tour.

I did not like VJ but he could have had an even greater career if his putter didn't desert him.

the South East Asia Pro Golf Tour for cheating on his scorecard to try and make the cut in a tournament...then there's the "Deer Spray" (banned substance) usage. Just like BVZ's Avatar (DJT)...a Cheat...be it in Golf...Business...or Politics. 'Birds of a Feather'......

I saw this live, didn't think a golf crowd could get so loud.

trying trick shots). Was this a pre tournament event?

It's apparently a tradition during the practice rounds

From what I understand, having only been to the one practice round. Pretty much all the golfers will attempt to skip that par 3 during the practice round.
