The market is going to churn.

Thank you to conor, FrankL and 94 for calling Trump's tariff policy the ruination of our US economy. You guys are very valuable as a "True South" compass.

....including EU autos which were at 25% (which was a big positive for the EU appeasing Germany but which still gives an overall much more fair trade deal) - but the 15% all all other EU goods as well is far more income for the US than the auto concession
...PLUS EU will buy 750 Billion in US energy (which they had to buy anyways and which will NOT be bought from Russia or other scumbag sources such as Venezuala anymore
....Plus EU obligated to make 600 Billion in additional US investments
...pharmaceuticals will not be part of any deal since they are an issue for the US still wrt egregious price gouging - Trump wants them made in the US and the price gouging to stop - that will be next.
...Trump refused to give the EU a break on steel (EU wnated a certain amyt of their steel imported into US before the tariff kicked in on their steel in the US).

Overall, an excellent deal for the US.
Overall, a good deal for the EU and not much different than Japan's deal.

The Dems could could not get this kind of deal done, and in fact, they could not even conceive of it. They wanted continued appeasement just as with NATO. Achieving was beyond their abilities and also was not consistent with their loathing of America.

Big, big, big win. MAGA victory lap. I own my Trump vote 100%. ....now libs can feel free to turn back to their Pee Pee Tapes 2.0 BS - it's all they have. Come to the light DFH, there is room here for you.

and more crucially, Russian aggression led to increased military spending…Trump’s threats played a role, but it was Russian aggression that provided the biggest motivation. Here’s an excerpt from the attached article:

“ Trump bragged in last year’s two presidential debates about having convinced, in his first term, NATO allies to increase defense spending. His threats—and, crucially, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine— kicked investment into higher gear. Only four alliance partners met the target of spending 2% of GDP on defense when Trump initially entered the White House. Four years later, nine countries met the threshold; 23 of the now 32 allies did so in 2024. Those facing the greatest security risks, perhaps unsurprisingly, have the highest defense spending, among them eastern flank countries that border Russia. Poland spends more than 4% of its GDP, more, in fact, than the United States. This commitment to rearm and innovate benefits Washington economically and strategically. NATO allies’ defense purchases from American manufacturers grew to $24 billion in 2023, part of a broader 55.9% increase in US foreign military sales over the previous year.”

You’re partially right if you consider threats an effective tactic, however, those threats weren’t the main reason for NATO’s increased military spending. In fact, the spending increased during the Biden admin.

can to not gove Trump the credit that he deserves.

The problem with appeasers is that the appeased see your weakness. Trump is not weak.

Now we have Uk getting what it needs, Russia cut off, NATO strengthened, a bunch of lazy, mooching countries starting to pull their own weight all of which helps the US..

Thst is what I call good leadership.

And that was after 9/11. Our real allies supported us during our GWOT. They lost men, treasure, et al. They hardly used us as we established the pecking order after WW2. In other words, the US has been their protector since aftet the fall of Nazism. Threatening them and making an ass of yourself gets us nowhere. Trump is a wannabe isolationist. Luckily he’s changed his tune as expected recently and that’s because he has no balls…Russia, case in point.
