In 2021 a bill that would have banned gerrymandering was introduced in Congress

Every D Senator voted for it.

Every R Senator voted against it.

Draw your own conclusions.

The Democrats' new bill still encompassed sweeping election law changes, including voter ID requirements, expanded early voting, making Election Day a national holiday, banning partisan gerrymandering, and implementing election security and campaign finance measures.
The legislation would have continued to allow voter roll purges but required changes to be "done on the basis of reliable and objective evidence" and prohibited the use of returned mail sent by third parties to remove voters.

So....if the Dems really wanted to eliminate gerrymandering, why did they include these other election law changes that favored themselves so heavily?
Note the vague wording for allowing a voting roll purge - it would be child's play to find a liberal judge to block a purge outdated voting rolls by subjectively ruling that the evidence wasn't "reliable and objective enough".....and at the same time, Dems sought to eliminate the best method to determine if a voter is still legitimate to be on a voter roll...by seeing if they reply to a notice by a 3rd party.

No, this was a power grab where gerrymandering was used a the cover page to make it look better.

I would hazard a guess that the bill did much more than just banned gerrymandering.

Is undoing gerrymandering, “gerrymandering” such as in Florida?

Also, in Illinois is one of the most gerrymandered of all states…..the state that the TX Dems fled to en masse

If you don’t like it, change the law. We’ll be glad to comply once all of the Dem changes have been undone.

Your rules.

The map of seats in Illinois is pretty crazy.

I thought you were criticizing gerrymandering. I didn't realize you were were good with gerrymandering in general.

We could abolish the House, I suppose. Not as much reason to have a bicameral legislature since the House and Senate are both selected by the people ever since the 17th Amendment. We could just have a single house legislature.
