The MAGA narrative that he is a big part of the problem is as brain-dead as all other MAGA narratives.

In some conflicts - Gaza, say - there are total assholes on both sides.

In others, the assholes are only one side.

…..which is to draw a line where Russia occupies and call it there (which I have said before).

The problem the Uk really face is that they cannot push Russia back without triggering nuclear conflict.

It’s far from a good deal for them, it is simply the best deal for them. The alternative is constant war, and probably an eventual takeover of their whole country - or WWIII. The US cannot fund this hopeless and non ending conflict forever.

Zelensky is a wannabe dictator who also has revenge in his heart. His people are living a horrible existence.
Putin is worse - he is an in place dictator with eyes on taking anything that he can.

What stops Putin from moving forward again?
Military threat:
A stronger EU army, no more GREEN LIGHT speeches or messaging from the US president, and a clearly conveyed, sincere willingness to get directly involved by the entire western world if they do.
In the future, if Russia masses troops on a border, the US and EU do the same rather than watch it for a month and a half like Biden did (and remember Biden had a past history that Putin remembered of doing NOTHING when he invaded Crimea.
The US and EU also send clear signals by cutting off all trade rather than (for example as happened) assist Russia with its oil delivery project to Europe.
The EU really needs to get off of its ass for the first time in nearly a century now.

This was a horrid Biden Mess left to be fixed. And even though Biden completely enabled the monster Putin in his efforts, his Democratbase will see any peace solution as capitulation to Putin.

But ask: Who promised Ukraine protection when they were convinced to give up their nukes in the 90’s (Budapest Memorandum 1994)? Bill Clinton.
Who failed to deliver on that promise when Putin invaded Crimea? Barack Obama and Joe Biden
Who told Putin a that a limited invasion could be tolerable - and then later tried unsuccessfully to put the words back in his mouth? Joe Biden.

This is less than ideal, but the Dems already guaranteed no chance at the optimal outcome with Putin which was not allowing an invasion in the first place.

Putin had troops amassed on Ukraines border for around 6 weeks with no response from the US or EU and a past history of allowing the Crimean incursion and takeover. And then that Green Light message from. Biden, AND the message from Biden that the US is going to end Trump’s ban on helping Russia complete their Nordstream II pipeline under the Black Sea to allow making even MORE money selling overly dependent Europe it’s oil while dismantling Trumps efforts to try to provide Europe its needs instead.

Putin expected no resistance at all. The US leader had already capitulated in the past, and Europe needed its oil to heat homes in the winter.
And he would have gotten none of Ukraine had surprised everyone by hanging on for so long.

Not defending Biden, Obama, or Clinton, but the only thing Putin understands is conflict. Would you have been willing to start a war? So you think Trump has handled Ukraine well? He appeased Putin until recently. The Alaska meeting will most likely be nothing more than a circle jerk. Putin is most likely scouting out land for a vacation home rather than negotiating a peace plan.

Zelensky is in no way being hindered from carrying on this war without the US if he rejects a compromise deal. Sadly, thanks to Biden there is really no alternative other than endless war, more death, and possibly WWIII.
Perhaps the EU feels differently - they can figure that out.

If Putin is intransigent, then the US will have to stay in to prevent further aggression.
