The parking lot is like Six Flags. They add horrible traffic congestion around the communities they're built into if they're reasonably close to neighborhoods.
Yes, the bathrooms are sparkling clean, I will grant that. Otherwise, I fail to see the appeal.
I am a Buc-ee's devotee. The huge, immaculately clean restrooms, the fresh, daily made brisket sandwiches, the friendly staff and the cheapest gas you will find anywhere - yes, cheaper than Costco. I even have a Buc-ee's tumbler, bought for 1/4 the price of a Yeti.
They also pay their staff very competitively. They are always packed. It really is incredible to see.
'Merica!
They typically are consistent with local pricing in the area. Costco is 20-25 cents cheaper and even moreso on premium gas.
I only have one data point....my local Costco as compared to the Buc-ee's south of Lexington KY on I-75. In my experience, Buc-ee's is always about 10 cents less expensive than Costco.
Stop there on our way up to Buffalo Trace and other neighboring distilleries. You live in a beautiful area.
On road trips. Their brisket sandwiches are outstanding. We don’t go out of our way but they’re starting to be everywhere. Started up in Texas where the largest concentration is located.
Company who pays pretty well. They are a cool stop. The food is ok but the coffee is good and the bathrooms are really clean. My kids always ask if one is one the way when we travel. I would go an exit or 2 out of the way but not much more. The beaver nuggets are good and they have a ton of beef jerky options.
If on a trip, I would not leave the fastest route to go to one, but if it were on the highway I was on, I would definitely try to plan a stop there...mostly because the bathrooms are so amazingly clean. How many other "gas stations" can you look at art on the way into and out of the bathroom, and then buy one of the art pieces if you want.
Even with 120 gas pumps, the closest one to me is often full. Not sure how they keep enough gas on hand to service all their customers.
Underground and have the biggest tank pad I have ever seen at their locations. It’s cool to be on their property as they are building them to see how it’s started. They usually have to have the exit expanded and lanes widened to accommodate the traffic.
