Instead of moving to the center after getting trounced in the general election, the Democratic Party has moved to the extremes and taking a huge lurch towards socialism. We are witnessing the implosion of the Democratic Party day by day. Just wait until he’s elected in November.
Schumer is toast. So is Jefferies. They’re out of touch and ineffective. No one can even name who leads the party. Mamdani and socialism are filling the void. What a mess.

"...It is past time for Democrats to do what Mr. Mamdani did in his campaign: get out in communities. Don’t live in fear of bad-faith attacks. Mine cities and state legislatures for new ideas. Enlist civil society, faith groups, beleaguered universities and industry in envisioning an alternative future. Abandon campaign financing that makes you beholden to donors who make you hypocrites. Make a concerted effort to facilitate generational change, so that the faces of the party are younger, different and more diverse.
Mr. Trump is a 79-year-old strongman nostalgic for the past. His domination of the present is not permanent, but it is leading many Americans to live in the status quo he commands while ignoring where we are going. To overcome that reality, Democrats must mobilize people to believe in the future."

This...plus DJT's tanking approval ratings on virtually all of his policies, and rising consumer costs due to tariffs will provide fuel for the possibility of Democrats retaking the House in 2026.
Serial liar or trouble with reading comprehension?
"Even when presented with Zohran Mamdani’s campaign in New York — an innovative example of fresh political tactics and policies — many party leaders recoiled. The party seems — quite literally — afraid of its own future. It is past time for Democrats to do what Mr. Mamdani did in his campaign" https://nytimes.com/2025/08/11/opinion/america-short-term-thinking.html

Or, they will move toward socialism as a way to address the "inequity". Socialism isn't a good thing, but when the escape velocity of the existing capitalist system basically sets you up for a life of servitude with no escape, stuff like socialism becomes attractive.
It's an easy win that directly helps out the working class in the lower tax brackets that just about everyone can get behind.
Rents in NYC are insane but that's a function of supply and demand.
Bureaucratic/regulatory red tape and high taxes have made investing in new housing UNATTRACTIVE!
Freezing rents will only decrease the supply as well as the quality of the existing stock.
NYC will become worse place to live than it was in the 1970s.
I suppose people moving out might decrease the demand.... but there goes the revenue base altogether.

whether the blight in San Fran/NYC/Etc.is different this time.
Mamdani is a bad development for NYC, but big cities have big mayors followed by good ones once things get bad enough.
I think London is at more risk than NYC.
have been deported and/or left the country reducing demand on housing, taxes have been lowered on the middle class, and the Fed will cut in September. I know it’s going to be hard, but I’ve got faith in Trump and Bessent.
