Trump promised his voters that the Russia Ukraine voters on Day 1. He lied. Of course.
My guess is that Rubio’s presence kept Trump on track.

Trump put out the red carpet for a war criminal.

You guys think the war would never have happened if Trump was in office at is a fallacy.

Trump’s track record “negotiating@ with autocrats is rather lacking.
And, you are premature celebrating the lack of success.

even consult Zelensky).
You are actually blind to your rather extreme case of TDS.
If something positive comes out of this, I’d be happy to say I’m wrong. Odds are I’m not, though.

And he had Putin ride in the beast with him. Hopefully the negotiations go better than this kowtow fest for an enemy.
Hell, Trump is treating this savage better than he treats our allies. Wow!
condescending tone, and smirk a lot dismissively. That's how you get results in negotiations!
I want this war ended. Trump wants this war ended. I hope Trump lays it on so thick that it's three feet deep.
Negotiate from a position of power. It’s not like Russia is an ally

I take it you have a problem with FDR schmoozing with Stalin to end WWII?
I would like to see Trump be tough on the savage. Tough negotiations, no cock sucking. Trump has equal or more power.
He's not smart.

productive. Whether you think what Trump did and said about him was bad or not, why annoy him on this day?
I’m overly aggressive at times, but this time I was being honest. It seemed like you were offended and I didn’t find one thing wrong with what Zelensky wrote. He, obviously, doesn’t t have much confidence in Trump. I don’t blame him. And he was being truthful about Russia’s continued aggression.

By the looks of it. No cease fire and no progress.

Putin, once again, ran rings around Trump. It was a win for Putin…Trump? Not so much.
...Putin is there because of one reason (and Trump knew it):
Trump's massive tariff on India was a huge kick to the balls of Putin.
The EU has been pretending to be pro Ukraine for a long time, but they are actually ambivalent because they have been using Russian oil.
The EU stopped buying Russian oil which went far to funding Putin's war effort - this was part of the EU's deal with the US that Trump brokered.
Pre invasion, India was importing less than 1% of its' oil from Russia.
Now, India is buying 33% of its' oil from Russia.
India has been taking this oil and then turning around and selling it to the EU (and others) at a profit for itself....and at the same time helping Putin with cash influx.
It was in large part this reason that Trump just imposed a 25% US tariff on India meant to hit them financially more than they were making off of playing Russian oil middle man to get them to stop.
India told Putin - hey man, business is business. Sorry.
Magically, Putin agrees to go to US soil to talk peace.
Everyone on Earth should be skeptical of anything Putin says or does. Trump knows this, especially now.
Still it is a chance for peace. AND THIS WAS MEANT TO START A POSSIBLE PROCESS IN THAT REGARD.
Even the wildest MAGA optimist didn't expect a deal on this very day.
But unsurprisingly, the crazy TDS'ers were ready to declare the the Trump effort a failure, the second that there wasn't a deal that very day.
Oh brother.
Give it time.
Trust nothing Putin says about a deal - as Trump said today..."There's not a deal until there is a deal" This was after Putin tried to imply to Trump that the negotiations went well.
Modify what Ronald Reagan famously said when it comes to Russia: "DON'T trust, but verify".
Still, a deal can happen. It will depend on how much this tariff action is hurting Putin. It might not be enough, but at least Trump is trying for peace unlike his predecessor who facilitated this mess.
Now if Trump follows through with the hard core sanctions and tariffs, good on him. I have my doubts that he will. Putin visited the US fucking of A and he was treated better than our allies are treated when they come to Washington.
I’ll tell you what, if a deal comes out of this, I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong about my skepticism, today. You know my word is gold.
After just a 3 hour talk?
And would you have been ok without even talking to Camo Boy about it?
No, you'd have been all over Trump for it.
And wrt to tariffs, he already hit India which is why Putin is there.
Wrt receiving him better than you liked, do you really think insulting him would have done anything other than end the chance for peace and make the exercise a waste of time?
You can't see it, but your hatred of Trump is affecting you a lot.
You people hate, not me. As far as believing Putin, good point, but in order to get a deal there’s going to have to be some belief. And forgive me for hanging high hopes…I was expecting progress, not an ass Kissinger session.
I don't know if you caught that, yet.
This same routine had been going on for years. If the scolding had been done behind closed doors, he likely would have told a tale that differs from reality. His chutzpah had been off the charts, and I think the part that really annoyed people like you is that Trump was spot on: Z had/has a weak hand and was/is in no place to make the demands and assumptions he has made of us. He should be on-his-knees thankful that Trump has an interest in stopping this insanity that is depleting his country's population and is willing to negotiate something with Putin. There is a real chance that this war will end. If Kammy had won, we would still be sending everything over to The Big Muddy, with zero ambition to end the war, with what, another million or two million Ukrainian boys, gimps, institutionalized psychotics, geriatrics, and puppies sent to their deaths to make boobs like you feel better and make the limp-wristed interventionist masterminds feel good about themselves? Yeah, son of a gun, that's the long and short of where we would be sitting right now if Americans had chosen that tipsy dingbat.
Not surprising

And Vance piled on. All of this on national TV. Now if it was behind closed doors away from the press, ok. Even Marjorie Taylor Green’s husband piled on by asking Z why he wasn’t wearing a suit. It was a disgraceful moment for the US, imo.
Particularly when said leaders choose to be cross in a public forum, in front of the cameras? Why are you ignoring what Z said to instigate this?
The comment about Z's clothing was stupid and Trump interjected at that point. The statement by Vance was also spot on.
He was hardly being cross. Vance should have sat there like a vice president instead of making an ass out of himself. What Zelensky said was true. No lies. Vance and Trump attacked the victim instead of promoting a united front against Putin.

The Ukraine’s struggle to Russia’s aggression. Zelensky told the truth. Trump and Vance acted like assholes.

Not much of a risk - and it is possible that both sides are finally ready to talk.
It is also possible that Vlad lays on the compliments and Trump takes his side and makes things worse.
We'll see.

You show respect to the other side, even if they are assholes...if you want a settlement, that is.
Calculated disrespect doesn't usually elicit a good response. I've seen it done in the business context, and it is a quick path to litigation.
He should do this for both Putin and Zelenskyy. I agree with you he was an ass to Zelenskyy. He shouldn't have been. And shouldn't be to Putin either.

The E.U. is now far less reliant on Russia for oil, so if you squeeze India with huge tariffs for buying Russian oil, it tightens the vice on Russia to come to the negotiations table to get sanctions dropped.

As is late night talk and MSM. Don’t watch cartoons so Im wondering if South Park did a show on 10/7 or BLM or the “From the river to the sea” crowd or the mostly peaceful protesters or any Dem left leader? Maybe they did. Just wondering.
