Like many Americans, her outrage re crime is fair.
However, I part ways with the precedent and principle of using our military to "police" American cities.
That is what happens in autocratic regimes. The "emergency" invoked by Trump to deploy troops to Los Angeles and Washington DC was all about (1) feeding his racist base and (2) distracting them from Epstein.
US cities with the highest homicide rates in 2024 were St. Louis, Baltimore, New Orleans, Detroit, Cleveland, Las Vegas. Six of those seven cities are located in states that voted for Trump in 2024.
