We have seen more and more AI use from a few posters here on this board (who they are is not important at this time).
Instead of backing up their opinions with their own reasoning and experiences, they lazily request a defense of what they already want to believe rather than explain (and thus better consider) their own reasons for their stance.
It’s really disappointing because it misses the point of what is the real value of these discussions. The AI product is sterile and prepackaged and inauthentic. It’s use also implies that the user is no longer thinking for himself - not only in the construction of the post, but on what views they carry on an issue. It presumes, “I believe whatever my tribe wants to support, so I’ll use an AI programmed for my tribe to formulate the thoughts that I will incorporate as my own”
It’s’ unnecessary because nobody is giving out grades.
It’s embarrassing for them because the sudden change in writing style is painfully obvious after reading thousands of posts from the poster already.
I’ll repeat my motto: You don’t have to agree, just be genuine in your beliefs and make an effort because you’re asking others to make the effort to read and consider your post.

the poster who leads in saying he 'Ignores' me, is none other than Baron...small wonder that he doesn't call out the Username of the "Offenders"...That said, after being labeled "Link Boy" ;-) for awhile, due to 'too much' info in backing up posts...now Baron is bent out of shape by the use of a tool...AI...that is based on MANY links...all condensed in the creation of a summary addressing a question of interest...which...unlike Baron...I read and verify Before Posting so that it mirrors my other research on topics we've typically been over many, many times.
Actually, I'm in the midst of reading a book on AI that is Very Bullish on the use of that 'Tool' for everything from Chess Strategies, to something that should be dear to BVZ's heart...Medical Science, including DNA "Writing" and RNA Designing for the treatment of Diseases and extending lifetimes by decades. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find such uses of AI as being in any way. shape or form...LAZY.
Just one person's opinion, but Baron is fulfilling the role of UHND OF "Luddite" perfectly...
Perhaps one day, Baron will find the courage to engage me, like he used to, and dialogue about such an issue...could happen...
Or you may be neurotic, have an inferiority complex and something equating to battered-wife syndrome.
Baron doesn't want to engage with you, it would be most healthy for you to accept that.
Are you still reading that book of the guy I think is irrelevant to the AI conversation?
that counters his misinformation…unburdened by his made up nonsense.
You and I can debate freely and that’s what a Forum is intended to provide…sadly, Baron…like his Avatar, DJT,.. doesn’t have the courage and confidence that allows him to engage with a fellow alum who has access to medical specialists with equal…and in the case of COVID-19…better medical expertise than he does.
Being an ND Alum, I feel a duty to confront another Alum who spreads misinformation and sullies the good name of this University…so Baron can expect more posts that use Links and AI generated overviews.
As for reading “The Coming Wave”, I’m currently enjoying Suleyman’s comments regarding Jennifer Doudna’s CRISPR creation while re-reading her book, “CODE Breaker”. We can discuss that and other AI related issues…with or without Baron’s thoughts…

challenge me on anything I present...in order to find out who's right or wrong...do you find fault with that?...do you have something to challenge me with?

Responses…and never imagining that you’re wrong.

There may indeed be a diminishing return to relying on AI to think for you because over time your ability to craft effective prompts diminishes.
AI is a tool, that's how to think about it. But you are the agent that uses the tool to get what you want more efficiently.

Serious question, from someone who tries to detect AI on a regular basis....
It is painfully obvious right now when something is written by AI. It’s also hilarious that the Linkster is now bragging that his posts are the compilation and distillation of many links. He’s proud of it. His responses are insufferable.

….have you given any serious thought to my suggestion? Or would such a rigorous solution decrease the people who will sign up for the class (I could see that being a problem)? I am asking seriously with no insults intended.
…well that’s not a surprise. Did he acknowledge his use of it, or represent t it as his own inorder to try to look smarter?
At the real Notre Dame, the latter would be a violation of Du Lac, and it would get you kicked out of school. Good thing he never got in.
But quite honestly Woodstock, I was thinking of someone else with a bit more finesse.
Obama embarrasses Trump...TyroneIrish embarrasses BaronvonZemo...both DJT and BVZ start attack campaigns on their foe's origins...;-)...Both easily disproved, but they can't help themselves...they have to vent their anger...it is what it is.
So he also seems to think it’s him. I’m intrigued now as to who you were alluding to?

When you read many genuine posts from the same poster, you develop a keen recognition of their writing style, thought process, vocabulary, speaking style, character depth, and mental acuity.
When these things suddenly change in this day and age, there is but one answer - and it is not night school.
You have a much harder job since you are not afforded that luxury. But I can tell you what I would do (it was something that an ND professor did for my writing class way back in the day for different reasons…….
….sit them in your class and have them write with you watching them as they are asked to write their essay in an hour or two. Also, do not tell them what the essay will be about - just that it will incorporate the topics and principles that you covered (otherwise they will just use GPT ahead of time).
I realize that some of your students (if not most will not feel comfortable with a pencil and a Blue Book), but even with laptops, you can roam and get a view of what is on their screen. You can also have them verifiably disconnect from the internet as well.
The essays won’t be as good, but everyone will be under the same restrictions so it will be fair.
It’s really your only option as AI will get so good that those programs profs used in the past to catch AI will be outfoxed (I assume they are already being outfoxed).

But it really sticks out on a poster who rarely strings together a worthy thought or two with proper syntax and clean language who suddenly spews long-winded directed narratives full of political cliches and buzz words in sterile fashion.
Btw, as with search engines, AI is only as good as its user as well as its programming parameters.
