Objective #1: Secure the border. We're in agreement here.
Objective #2: Remove MS13, Tren De Aragua and the like, the imported criminals. We're in agreement here too.
But we're both the products of immigrants and even for the ones who came here illegally (not their fault that was the best path), risked life and limb for a better life, these people should be granted amnesty. And they will be more closely aligned with your politics than Tyrone's.
They could have did things the respectful legal way like many before them but they chose breaking the law as the very first contribution to this nation. They gotta go. They were told to go back on their own and apply the legal way but still chose to stay, hide, and give the finger to our laws. No one is above the law the left love to prance around and chant. Coming here illegally is their fault. They chose to enter our nation by breaking our laws. Study after study shows those who enter illegally are less likely to assimilate.Thank goodness that the great State of Indiana is a non sanctuary state with very little exceptions.
Immigrants’ political choices.
Kudos, Cheeks.
abiding immigrants who were dutifully following the rules of the immigration process.......
.....your statement sounds really nice. Until you think about what it will do to the legal immigration process if these people are allowed to successfully just jump in without doing all of the process and vetting that others had to do. That process is critical to our well being as a country.
I do agree that if they have committed no other crimes, then some sort of naturalization process should be considered - especially since the Democrats literally tempted and encouraged them to break the law (but they knew what they were doing).
Whatever that consideration is, it cannot be easier or the same in difficulty as those who have been waiting for much longer and are following the legal process. I've got a few ideas, but I don't feel like getting into it right now (sorry, just tired).
But the next time someone cuts the line at a movie or an airport or a sporting event, etc.....remember how it makes you feel, and remember how much of a bigger of a deal it is what they did, and how it will affect those who were trying to follow the law, and how it will affect those who will be asked to follow it in the future..
What the BidenHandlers did was evil. It's solution is not at all easy, and they bear responsibility for it as they wring their hands and cry out as people roll up their sleeves to do the hard work to fix their mess (I told DFH something similar last night on a related issue).
BidenHandlers had only one reason to stop enforcing border laws - they wanted the votes. And shenanigans aside in various states, their overall plan was to grant everyone amnesty and then have the economically dependent votes to maintain power for the foreseeable future.
That didn't happen, and it's not economically possible unless the entire population is willing to except far, far more limited healthcare and no social security benefits left to be received.
I want to balance fairness and legal necessity with compassion. I am not in charge, but that is how I see it. As usual, Dems cause a massive problem, and then bitch that others aren't fixing it to their satisfaction (which of course is only achieved if they get their way).

And I’m not trying to debate to “win” an argument. I am just explaining my view.
In my solution, I would allow for those who want to stay and be law abiding citizens to identify themselves so that they can get their place in line in a program for eventual naturalization. If not, then they forfeit their chance.
Criminal behavior history also forfeits their chance - violence, gangs, drugs, Miami Hurricane fans, etc..
This is both compassionate and fair to those who were cut in front of line. It also could preserve our naturalization process which is necessary.
Some of them paid to get raped on their path across the border.
impossible situation in some ways with no easy answers.

No Federal or State Elections have been affected by undocumented immigrants voting...just ask him to provide ANY evidence to support his claim...he'll either clam up, or post something from the Babylon Bee...;-)

AI Overview
Undocumented immigrants cannot legally vote in federal or state elections in the U.S., and studies and audits have shown that illegal noncitizen voting is extremely rare. Anyone who illegally votes faces severe penalties, including fines, imprisonment, and deportation.
t
Key facts about noncitizen voting:
Federal law prohibits it: The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 makes it a federal crime for a noncitizen to vote in a federal election.
Registration barriers: The federal voter registration form requires applicants to affirm, under penalty of perjury, that they are U.S. citizens. This creates a major deterrent, as lying on the form is risky and could jeopardize future naturalization efforts.
Incidents are rare: Decades of studies and audits by election officials have repeatedly found that cases of noncitizen voting are "vanishingly rare". For example, a 2016 review by the Brennan Center for Justice found only 30 suspected cases of noncitizen voting out of 23.5 million votes cast.
Protections are in place: Election officials use various methods to maintain voter rolls and prevent noncitizens from casting ballots, including cross-referencing records with other government agencies.
Local elections vary: While federal and state elections are off-limits, a small number of localities—primarily some cities in Maryland, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.—permit noncitizens to vote in certain local elections, such as for school board or city council.
