Enough already
I hate writing this, but this needs to be said.
Posts on the Open Forum lately either consist of (i) cut-and-pastes of AI-generated garbage that are so dense and poorly written so as to make them unreadable, or (ii) taunts and insults that are completely devoid of substance.
All of you are better than this (well, most of you anyway). KNOCK IT OFF. My suggestions:
1. Don't create an AI-generated monstrosity and dump it on the readers here. If you use AI, do so privately then WRITE YOUR OWN SHORTER TAKE ON WHATEVER YOUR TOPIC IS. Nobody reads AI and accepts it as gospel because everybody knows it simply pukes up "content" tailored to the requesting party's prejudices. It ain't persuasive in the least and, to repeat, it generally is so tedious, dense and poorly written that nobody will read it. Take pity on your readers. Do your own work and think about how to present a position that is succinct, reasoned and (hopefully) persuasive. Ai, unedited, is lazy. Don't be lazy.
2. Don't taunt and insult for no reason other than you disagree with a poster's take, or that you disagreed with a poster's take two years ago and you want to hold a grudge. We have WAY too much of that here. I mentioned the other day that the "drive-by" insult is, in my view, low and unsophisticated. Those kinds of posts generally get deleted (and to the cry-babies, it has NOTHING to do with political affiliations). Don't insult someone, certainly without including something of substance in your post. If you have nothing to say other than "so-and-so is an asshole" then don't post.
3. Putting someone on ignore is fine, but putting someone on ignore and then insulting them is low. Those of you who do this know who you are. Don't be a pussy. If you want someone to be dead to you, then do it all the way.
We want reasoned discussions. Of course people will disagree -- that is encouraged. But you have to actually disagree FOR A REASON, not because you despise someone you perceive as having a different political philosophy. Make the Board Readable Again!
