Have the uhnd brass ever considered a Political Forum?
Cost prohibitive? Not enough mods? Not enough posters?
I would imagine the number of “hits” from lurkers has gone down. That can’t be good for business.
Maybe the Footy drives everything and the OF is just an ancillary playground.
Just curious. The OF has gotten very repetitive.
Not sure what the solution is.

Ah, "The Polly". It didn't work.
We don't have enough traffic to support a bunch of different forums. It was confusing for people to have multiple forums with potentially overlapping topics (The Open: where any topic is open, except politics?). There were too many opportunities for posts intended as non-political to turn political. It just means we run two "political" forums.
At the end of the day, it's a Notre Dame site, and the Open is here to keep the non-football talk off the football board. The Open gives ND folks the chance to talk about other topics together, but it's not really our purpose.
Over time, the board has become low T, replacing hottest chick brackets with political debate. Sad.

Had one over a decade ago. It didn't work.
People want to talk about what they want to talk about. Politics became our new religion, and, as a result, fewer people have an interest in McSweeney's shaving of his nut sack, back in the good ole days of the Open Forum.
