To be honest, I knew very little about him and from what I've read the past couple days he and I did not share the same viewpoints on lots of things.
The one thing I liked about him was his willingness to oppose the academic establishment's on campus censorship.
My core value is tolerance of free speech.

I will say that he was a man of conviction, dedication, and Christian faith. He at least gave everyone a chance to speak their mind even if their views conflicted with his views.
The first thing that came to mind when I heard about the shooting were his two young children and his wife. That part is the real tragedy to me.
