I lived in Brazil in that era and it was horrific. Repression of speech was everywhere.
But artists always found a way around it and produced incredible works that skipped by the censors.
This music by Chico Buarque was pure genius as he used the word Calice (chalice), which in Portugues sounds exactly like Cale-se (shut up) to mock the government.
