I’ve come to the conclusion that the term “ilk” is essentially the “c” word of political discourse.
Nowadays, when posters use it, they are pissed. I mean REALLY pissed. Disgusted, angry, ….basically the language fails to properly convey the intensity of feeling, and “ilk” just sounds so dirty, grimy, and gross. The posters appear to be gaining venting benefit just in its use as well.
I’ve used it before, but having observed this word which was once reserved for those with a robust vocabulary now make it’s’ way to the hoi polloi and even down to West Lafayette, I will try to avoid it (other than for needling purposes).
In fact, I’ve never been truly pissed by anyone on this board. I have been annoyed, but never pissed.

with the uses of the word?
Just because I can’t stand Biden, Hilary, Obama, Kerry, Gore, Clinton, Dukakis, Mondale, or Carter.
I am completely misunderstood, and hate being pigeonholed wrongly.
