Gun owners and guns should be regulated the same way car drivers and car manufacturers are. No issue with me there.
It's been a long time coming but it had to happen.
A large percentage of gun owners do not want the government to know what they have for obvious reasons and your perspective isn't going to change what they believe.
agreeing with a R. Senator on his comments about regulating guns the same as we do automobiles.
And even furthering the post in your vernacular - If there were stricter gun regulations in place, could he have
purchased a weapon to have done this?
existing law needs a burden of proof as to the need. What regulation that doesn't currently exist would you have written that would have prevented him from purchasing a gun? Go ahead, I'll wait.
clearly you didn't understand the initial post.
I'll wait.
Obviously, there are no statistics on registered vs unregistered guns. No statistics on who would conform to a registry requirement. And, no way to know how many weapons are illegally owned currently in the U.S.. I know by talking to guns owners that I know that all of them (yes 100%) would not register all of their weapons (if any). Yes, I live in the south and yes, we like our guns. Get over. Again, the burden is on you... you are proposing the new regulations, just let us in on what you are thinking. I am a reasonable person. What "reasonable" law(s) could/should be implemented for regulating guns like cars as you say? Give me one that doesn't already exist that would have prevented this recent event from happening. You and I both know that there is none. You are trying to capitalize on a tragedy and it is shameful. 70% plus of homicides are committed with a illegally obtained weapon. That is the funny thing about criminals, they don't follow the laws by definition.
People all over the nation have guns, north south east west, democrat and republican.
What you're talking about is the same old bullshit talking point that someone is coming to take away your guns. You and your ilk
keep inventing this enemy that doesn't exist.
The initial post is your dumbshit R senator from Louisiana made one of the stupidest comments ever in support for 2nd amendment rights
and in support of the dumbshit idea the "left is coming after America's guns". He completely botched his comments by saying guns should have
the same restrictions as do cars. I agree with him - that Guns should have tougher restrictions. I know he doesn't really think that but he said
it on the House floor - therefore, I agree with him on his comments even though it's not what he was trying to say.
You on the other hand like to embellish on created tropes, posting false narratives creating false controversies.
The South has nothing over the North when it comes to guns, gun ownership and hunting.
You're an "Us vs Them" kinda guy is what's really happening - it's all in your head.
person as you will find, unlike yourself. You hold your party-line narrative regardless of how illogical or infeasible it may be. Still waiting for your common sense regulations that would have prevented this or any other tragedy from occurring. I have said before on this board that I am not opposed to background checks on purchases, but I also see deficiencies in that process that need some level headed discussion.
I have never held a party line - Immigration is a perfect example of not holding a party line.
And just like your R party line, "we're not opposed to background checks" is the talking point and then the R's vote the opposite
and it's exactly what you post - the official party line. Just your post about this large "% of gun owners don't want... for obvious reasons"
A load of bullshit. And what are the obvious reasons? Oh, I'll answer that for you - there are no real reasons obvious or tangential. It's
rhetoric your party puts forth daily. It does nothing but muddy the waters for the deplorables to rage on.
I don't have any solutions to the Guns issues other than, Background checks and no assault rifles or military equipment for sale.
I elect officials to do the heavy lifting on working to get reasonable, sensible legislation built into laws. Same with immigration.
I don't have those answers and I sure won't post bullshit just to pick a side.
worse. Find a good law they created and I'll give you two that are crap. I mean for goodness sake, my dad is STILL receiving stimulus checks for my mom that passed away almost 2 years ago. And yes, he had already submitted his taxes well before the last round of checks that got processed. How many other dead people received money because we can't figure out who is alive or not? My dad is a democrat, but luckily has enough morals that he didn't vote for mom in this last election because yeah, he could have with our outstanding election regulations. As for how it relates back to the gun regulations you might ask? How long does it take the government to update any form of red-flag lists that someone who is legally allowed to own a gun got put on in error? My guess, longer than it will take them to stop sending my dad free money for my mom. Yeah, I know... another talking point to you. That is your favorite comeback. You have no solutions but to call people names and pretend that you are some left of center citizen that can logically think through issues and believes our government is the best to implement them.
Lawful gun owners will think it is a pain in the ass, but will likely be okay if the process is not too onerous.
"Unlawful" gun ownership should come with a stiff penalty... perhaps helps address the areas where gun crime is most prevalent.
Still struggle with how you can stop the whack jobs...
15 shot, three were killed just this past Monday in Chicago. That doesn't count murders by beatings, knives, blunt objects, strangulations, opioids. Bad people with bad intentions will find a way. Where was the left outcry when the Dallas police officers were gunned down or when David Dorn was gunned down by mostly peaceful protesters How many innocents were gunned down or beaten to death by these same mostly peaceful jerkoffs last Spring and summer? Not a peep from from President Harris and VP Biden. We have background checks and registration. The FBI has to follow up on any red flags.
