There is a steadily increasing trickle effect beginning to hit Canada as they continue to insist on unequal tariffs and trade deals to their advantage. They cannot argue the fairness of "reciprocal tariffs" as Trump wants, but they have become dependent on the gravy train as they slip further and further into a socialist state.
At present, the Canadian govt is borrowing debt to support it's businesses hit by the tariffs. https://gowlingwlg.com/en/insights-resources/articles/2025/new-federal-support-canadian-businesses-us-tariffs

This is why the Canadian PM is back to the bargaining table. This is also why it is incredibly stupid of Ontario's Premiere Ford to piece together false ads via editing of Ronald Reagan to be aired during the World Series.

...Tariffs are the antithesis of Free Trade and economic growth...Trump is leading America down the wrong path.

Reagan’s message is nuanced. Tarriff’s can be bad or appropriate depending on the situation.

For pure protectionist reasons, they are in the long run generally bad.

As a response to unfair trade practices, they can be appropriate.

In other words, If they are used to create a “level playing field” then they can be helpful to change behavior. If purely for protectionist purposes, then probably not good in the long term.

But then again as Keynes said, in the long run, we’re all dead.

That is indeed what Reagan said…and why Nobel Economists object to what Trump is doing.

that might help explain why DJT and his advisers are risking our status in the world economy...btw, have you heard Vladimir complain about any of this?

P.S. Good to 'see' you...

Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.

Glad to...Nancy's speech was directed at ONE country...China...which was not engaging in Free Trade

Practices as agreed to by the International community. DJT has falsely accused scores of other countries, including our closest allies, of en masse abuses of Free Trade. You're living in another universe if you believe and trust in Trump's policy. Virtually all economists, including those with Nobel Prizes, object to what Trump is doing...never mind what President Reagan had to say. You can't put lipstick on Trump and change reality.
