Somehow this kerfuffle is not unnerving our markets, which continue to melt up.

Why did Democrats pass ACA if it was too expensive? Why not permanent subsidies?

book on 'All things ACA'...but you're not.

Note that Americans pay 2X more per capita for HC than any other developed country on the planet, and the HC Industry pours more money into lobbying than any other...in short, 'It ain't easy' to cut costs...but at least Obama found a way to get tens of millions of previously uninsured Americans much needed HC...that's a good thing...that the Republican Party didn't consider a priority...and still doesn't.

btw, a large percentage of those who benefit from the ACA are in Red States...just ask MTG.

Could it be that it would have made inflation and the debt even worse?

And why include subsidies for those who don't need it AND for those who are here illegally?

It seems like the Dems missed their chances.

Health care costs like college tuitions just increase when the government starts paying them.

I'm ok with taking care of the truly need who are US citizens but that's it.

It was cruel to seduce all those poor foreigners here... and the Dems own this.

every other developed nation treats them as Societal Necessities that benefit the entire country. Ireland, for example, makes colleges...and some trade school apprenticeships...free for those who qualify, and the HC system is government funded, so no one goes w/o HC...and they pay less than half of what we do. Here, we have many HC Corps, each with their own Marketing, G&A, etc. Overhead expenses which add no value to the services...just more cost.

Meanwhile, if we want our GDP to grow, we need enough workers...at all levels and in virtually all fields. Thanks to immigrants we continue to grow since our birth rate is low and people of our demographic are leaving the workforce. If those workers are to be productive, they...and their families need HC. For undocumented immigrants, their primary source of HC is the very expensive ER. Cutting to the chase, we need to pass an immigration bill, like the one in 2024 that Trump killed so that the Documentation vetting process is reduced from 6+ years to 6 months, or less, and the people we need can then get the HC (perhaps Obamacare) they. need.
